Summer fun

Hello fellow crafters. It is Tuesday and so time for another Through the Craft Room Door challenge. As always the theme is anything goes.

The image I chose to work with is Tess Summer Fun. Again I really enjoyed colouring the image adding dimension with the shading.

I used promarkers for the colouring. every time I tried to use a minimum of 3 of the same hue to add depth. Obviously For the dress and hair I used many more.

a brilliant work of art

Hello there. today's card is a CAS one layer card inspired by the latest LIM challenge. the theme is to use a stencil.

So I decided to use a stencil that was still waiting it's turn same as the stamps. I started with the stencilling and distress ink. I used squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade, abandoned coral, candied apple, wilted violet, seedless preserve, crushed olive and peeled paint.

 Then I stamped the sentiment and brush from Claritystamp in black archival and heat embossed in clear powder. Then I added the drips from a Visible Image set and again heat embossed. Same for the yellow paint splodge.

                                                   

Finally I added some silver and black wink of stella to the paint brush. And there is my CAS offering for today, Theresa xx.

Hello my friends. Today the card on offer is made from HOTP papers. It was one of those complete kits that used to be on QVC back in the day. It is not my usual card although I do love these papers as they co-ordinate very nicely with each other. 

So I chose some papers that called out to me to be used and I started constructing the card. The black strip is a shimmery paper that also comes in the pack. The glycine envelope was also in the kit. i inked its edges with black soot distress ink as I did with the edges of all the papers.

I also stamped around edges with stitches stamps that were also part of the kit. I stamped best wishes on the tag. The main sentiment is die cut with a crealis die and I inked it with twisted citron and shabby shutters distress ink while still in the die. I also went round with a fine black micron pen. I matted it and added a small paper ribbon. Finally I added the brad eyelet.

As a final embellishment I also added card candy which is made from pearlescent card and is also shimmery.

I followed the same process for the sentiment inside. The paper strip is matted on the black shimmery paper and also stamped with a zigzag type of stitch stamp. 

So in the end I felt pleased that I had still incorporated some stamping in this card, Theresa xx.

Christmas in the air ...

Hello my friends. With all the rain we've had I have found myself thinking about Christmas rather than summer. 

Then I read this weeks LIM blog and I found myself drifting towards a snowy scene.

In the end I made 2 cards. I started with a piece of Sheena stamping card and masked off the lower third with a torn piece of copy paper. I inked the exposed area with distress inks. I used: tumbled glass, stormy sky, faded jeans and chipped sapphire on one and on the other I omitted faded jeans and used dusty concord.

I then flicked water at  them and dried them with kitchen roll after a few seconds and created a snowstorm. Then I stamped the tree in first and second generation black archival ink.

I added some shading to snow and added some snow to trees with a white sharpie.

I then added some frosted lace stickles to the blue one and a mixture of icicle and frosted lace to trees. Shame it doesn't show in pics.

I then stamped the sentiment in black archival ink and added clear wink of stella to Christmas.

Stamps are from Sheena Douglass a little bit scenic range.

I stuck the images down and added card candy to corner. I added frosted lace to them to give them some texture.

And voila' 2 Christmas cards finished. I have 5 ready now, the earliest I have started, Theresa xx.

Say it with flowers

Hello there. It is Friday and so time for another Fussy and Fancy challenge. This challenge is being hosted by the lovely Nathalie and she has chosen the theme 'Say it with Flowers'.

This time we are being sponsored by Magnolia-licious.

So I chose to work with a Tilda image. I colored her in using promarkers. I wanted to give her a vintage feel and that is how I visualized her in my head before I coloured her in.

I die cut her out using a spellbinders die and inked the edges with brushed corduroy. The papers in the background are from Kaiserkraft. The flower diecuts and doily are from Tim Holtz thinlets. 

The base card is die cut using spellbinders large scalloped circles and I turned it into an easel card.

I also added a couple of punched borders using a Martha Stewart punched, some red ribbon, twine and pearls as embellishments.

Hello my fellow crafters. This card was born after I checked the LIM blog on Saturday. I found this set of stamps stashed away with some promarkers when i was colouring another card. The stamps are by Butterfly Kisses and distributed by Hobby Art.

This is a one layer card. I stamped the sentiment in black archival ink and then masked the 'est wishes' with drawing gum. Then I used Tim Holtz stencils and inked through them with distress inks. Considering the theme I had to use my favourite one: spalts.

Then I sponged gilding paste through the chevron stencil and painted the swirls with the same paste. Once dry and tacky I added gilding flakes. I am becoming addicted to this paste and am using it everywhere.

Finally I stamped the branch in black archival and clear emossed it.

All that was left to do was to rub the gum off and that left the sentimant clear. I then painted it with clear wink of stella but this is really difficult to photograph.

Hello again. It is Tuesday and once again time for my team to be posting projects for Through the Craft Room Door.

For those of you that know me, it will be very obvious that I am out of my comfort zone with these images. However I must say that I enjoyed the colouring process.

the journey is never truly over ...

Hello there. I'm back again with a very different card. This was the card I sent my FIL for his birthday.

Apart from the cogs, which are spellbinders die cuts, it is an all Tim Holtz affair.

I started with 2 manila tags. I covered one with different washi tapes. I stamped various stamps from the acrylic sets, hence smaller images, in different shades of brown, grey and black. I also inked it with various distress inks.

 On the second one I stamped the gentleman in coffee archival ink. I coloured the image with distress inks and a damp brush. Holding some verse stamps in my hand and using distress inks I stamped the background avoiding the image. I distressed all around the edges with distress. The sentiment is embossed in brown tinsel from stampendous. I added glossy accents to fob watch and glasses.

Then I turned my attention to the base card. I covered cream card with tissue wrap using mod podge. I added some ink with brushes and distressed the edges. Once dry I stamped the sentiment in the corner and embossed in brown tinsel.

I added some ribbon to the tags and die cut cogs out of black card. I gilded them with various waxes to resemble aged metal cogs.

All that was left now was to assemble the card.

I know this isn't to everybody's taste but I love playing with earthy hues, Theresa xx.

Purple

Hello there. It is just a quick post today to share my latest CAS card. I stamped in deep purple black archival ink and clear embossed. I also added some freehand dots and finished the flower with a pearl. The stamps are all from Hobby Art. The sentiment is from the scribble flowers set and the image is from the flourishes set.

So a quick and easy card for today for the Less is more challenge which is colour theme and purple is the chosen colour.

cleaning......

Hello fellow crafters. Today's offering was inspired by the Simon says stamp Monday challenge as the theme was monochrome.

I used Bee Crafty stamps and stamped in cobalt blue archival. I masked with Pebeo drawing gum. Then I added tumbled glass, salty ocean, mermaid lagoon and blueprint sketch to my glass mat, spritzed with water and put the card face down on it to pick the colour.

Once dry I sprinkled some water and lifted some of the colour off kitchen roll. I stamped one of the border stamps around the edges. I sprinkled some gilding paste on background and once dry I added gilding flakes to it.

It was time to rub off the gum I then added clear wink of stella to apron, head piece and shoes and stamped and clear embossed the sentiment. Matted on navy blue and voila'.
