Mother's day canvas

Hello my friends. I'm back again with a small canvas that I made for my mum. Mother's day is in May at home so I must endeavour to post it out now. This has been inspired by the uber talented Emma Williams's design from earlier in the week. Obviously mine is nowhere near as good as hers and a far cry form it too. But anyhow.....

I started with a 5x7" canvas. It was primed so I didn't need to gesso it. I used distress paints on background: tumbled glass. weathered wood, twisted citron and seedless preserve.

I dried it with a heat tool and then sprayed hickory smoke distress stain through a Tim Holtz stencil.

                                   

Once dry I added some texture paste coloured with metallic pan pastels to the background through the fade dot stencil also by TH. For the word I used a circle alphabet stencil by Claritystamp and had to do it letter by letter, making sure each one was dry before doing the next.

 

I added some drips with picket fence and seedless preserve. The micro beads and pearls are stuck down with glossy accents. I also used the platinum glitter which has the most beautiful twinkly hue.

I stamped and embossed the flowers. I then coloured them with distress markers. I used picked raspberry and seedless preserves for the dahlia and peony. The echinacea was coloured with twisted citron, squeezed lemonade, candied apple, ground espresso, clover leaf and cracked pistachio.

For the stalks I used mainly clover leaf with hints of twisted citron and cracked pistachio. 

 I fussy cut the flowers and stuck them down in a corner adding a twine bow to them.

I then found a little metal butterfly and added some sapphire treasure gold wax to it.

Finally I went round the outer edge with black gesso and this framed the picture.

an 80th birthday with g45

Hello crafters. Time is really flying. Today I'm back again with another post for the Fussy and Fancy challenge.

I am quite excited to be hosting this challenge and for the theme I chose female birthdays.

This challenge is being sponsored by Sweet Lilac flowers. They do have some fab blooms in their shop so be sure to pay them a visit.

I chose the theme as I had several female cards to make and so I thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and all that....

So this is the card I made for my aunt's 80th birthday.

I started with a piece of white card which I die cut with a Sue Wilson ivy trellis die. I also die cut several ivy pieces also by Sue Wilson. I coloured these with distress inks.

Next I turned my attention to the lovely piece of g45 paper from botanical tea. I covered it with stick it double sided adhesive and covered it with micro beads to add some texture to the background. I mounted it behind the trellis using foam pads.

I matted it on 2 shades of green.

I stamped the sentiment from Creative Expressions in black archival ink and cut it out in a banner shape. I matted it on green and went round the edge with Cosmic shimmer dries clear glue and added iced diamond to it.

I mounted it all as shown and added a triple bow in green seam binding and a double bow of pink twine. I fussy cut 3 flowers from some left over pieces of paper and added them to bow.

The final touch was the addition of the green gems.

happy anniversary

Hello my friends. So this Saturday I went to Ally Pally with my friend Karen. Needless to say I bought some new stash and I was itching to play with it.

This card is a result of such play. Creative expressions have just released these metallic gilding polishes and they looked so lush that I just had to have some. I wasn't too greedy and only bought 3. The names and colours called out to me. They were Mediterranean blue. ocean teal and pearl lustre. They are blendable and give a pearlescent fish which is quite opulent. Can you see where I got the inspiration for the colours and the card? That is a picture of the Mediterranean sea in Malta. Now you know why I precipitate so much towards the blues.

Anyway enough waffling and onto the card. I used 2 stencils for this, a hexagon and a double oval geometric one. I superimposed them and embossed the ovals through the hexagon. Keeping both stencils in place, I started adding the polishes. I used the pearl lustre first and worked my way up to the darker blue. I then lifted the stencils off and left it to dry.

Once dry I wanted to add a sentiment. I decided to go with anniversary but I didn't have the word in the word chain stamps. So this involved a lot of masking of letters off other words so I could find the appropriate letters. I know I used: inspire, star, a, love, you and news.

I stamped them in black archival ink and clear embossed. A few black gems finish the card off.

So now I would love to have some feedback. I really loved the fish card but hubby again put a damper on it saying it was too modern and there is no-one to send it to, Theresa xx.

Hello my friends. It is time for another Through the Craft Room Door challenge and this week our sponsor is Pickled Potpourri.

I chose to work with the Today file. It comes with 2 images and 3 sentiments, so a very useful set that is very versatile.

I made 2 cards using both images. I really enjoyed working with these images. I believe that they can be adapted for a multitude of occasions.
