peel off mania!

Hello my friends. For this post I must say I was inspired by the recipe from the Less is More challenge - use peel offs. I don't think they realized what they were going to start!

Currently I'm trying to bring some order to my craft room and all the rooms messed up by crafty stash. I have discovered oodles of stuff amongst which more peel offs!

I decided to make a Christmas card. I started with the one below. I placed the outline sticker on the other side of kraft card so it would contrast and fussy cut it. I used the heartfelt creations stamp and inked it with hazelnut adirondak ink and stamped on a square 6x6 card base. I added some stars from same sticker sheet and added the Holy family with pinflair gel.

                    

                                    

Then I was on a roll. I saw the other stickers and decided to go for a second card. 

So this time I used the shepherd and sheep and again stuck them on kraft card and fussy cut them.

This time I went for a strip of words. I masked off the edges and stamped with Claritystamp stamps and same hazelnut ink. I tried to offset the stamp so it looks more like patterned paper. I also added some shading to edges with same ink and a make up sponge.

Then I stamped the star and added a small gem to it. I shaped the figures and stuck them down.

And then whilst rummaging I found this topper that I had made ages ago and thought... why not?

So card no.3 was born. 

I stuck the outline sticker on a sheet of double sided adhesive and added gilding flakes to it. I then backed it onto white card and trimmed it back. I matted it on kraft and black card and attached it to base with foam pads.

I added sentiment all round from border peel off stickers.

I chose to work with an image called Christmas Candle, always intent on getting as many Christmas cards ready as I can. It is actually a gorgeous image to work with and it does scream Christmas.

exotic ...

Hello my friends. I am not blogging as often as I would like, even though I am still creating things.... but life has a habit of getting in the way.

I was checking out some blogs yesterday and saw that Less is More had exotic as their theme. I remembered 2 toppers that I had finished ages ago and never completed into a card.

So I fished them out and decided to use the sunset one as I felt that the location is quite an exotic one.

I remember stamping the image in black archival ink and then colouring it in with distress inks. Before I started colouring I masked off a frame with low tack masking tape. I would have used colours from the new set - mermaid lagoon, fossilized amber, abandoned coral, wilted violet, twisted citron and cracked pistachio. Probably I also used tumbled glass.

For the sea and sky I brushed the ink on. The scene is coloured in with distress markers and a damp brush. The sun is painted in with the ink diluted slightly with water.

I added some clear wink of Stella to the sea to give it the glistening effect of sunset.

Then I drew the frame with a black micron pen and edged it with a black sharpie. 

The sentiment is stamped in versamark and heat embossed in black and then fussy cut and edged in black.

Both stamps are from the Sheena a little bit scenic range.

pink, cream and lots of bling ...

Well hello there. This time I am presenting my DT piece for the FFFC. For those of you that know me you realize that this is my nightmare combination: pink and bling are not my cup of tea.

Our challenge this week was chosen by the lovely Sharon. This is what she had to say:

As the majority of my cards are pink and cream it was the perfect colour choice for my challenge as host. I love the softness of this colour scheme and love to add as many gorgeous embellishments as possible. The flowers can add so much dimension and the gorgeous laces add such softness. Fussy and Fancy is possibly the best way to describe my cards.

I will look forward to seeing your interpretations of Pink/Cream with lots of bling.

So I tried to stay within a vintage theme so that I could mute the pink as much as possible. I chose a Christmas themed Tilda to work with, again trying to get as many Christmas cards done before the mad rush in November. I coloured her in with promarkers using several different shades to create depth.

I used snowflakes and the poem by Walter de la Mare from Claritystamp to add interest to the background and then die cut it with Sue Wilson's pierced ovals. I inked around edges with victorian velvet distress ink. I matted it on 2 shades of co'redinations card to match shading on Tilda's coat and hat.

The background paper is from Papermania's Silent night. I added pink organza and cream lace to left edge before I stuck it down.

Now it was time to look at embellishments. I used several Spellbinders dies, including poisettia, flourishes, twigs and the star tag.

For the poinsettias I cut one out of felt, one out of pearlized cream card and the smaller one out of card covered in Stick it which I then covered in victorian velvet distress glitter. All 3 have a central round sparkler to add bling.

The star tag was also covered in stick it and then sugared with iced diamond.

I hung the star from pink organza ribbon and added some Tim Holtz winter words in pink. I finished it off with card candy covered in glossy accents  and some blingy swirls that I had in my stash.

Hello my friends. I have another Christmas card for you today. This is another design piece for Through the Craft room door. 

As always our theme is anything goes.

The image I chose to work with today is called Snowman - candy and holly.

I used a variety of dies for this card and some glitters for good measure. But you have to have glitter at Christmas right?
