Easter basket ...

I'm back again with another Easter treat. This project was inspired by the lovely Emma Williams pastel project that she did for Simon says stamp Monday challenge blog. You can find her blog post here.

This basket started it's life like this. It was full of clementines....

I gessoed it on the outside and then applied distress paints. I used cracked pistachio, squeezed lemonade, broken china and mermaid lagoon. I then added some abandoned coral with a texture sponge.

 

Once dry I used an egg stencil, that was a NDSC stencil last month from Clarity stamp, and dragged grunge paste through it after some masking. I did this on three sides.
Then I painted them with more distress paints: dried marigold, shaded lilac, shabby shutters, squeezed lemonade and broken china.
Then I used the faded dot stencil by Tim Holtz and added pewter and tarnished brass through it.

As I hope you can see from pic above the eggs are then double galzed with clear embossing powder.

Then I made the roses. First I dragged a piece of thin card through squeezed lemonade stain spritzed with water. I diecut 3 large and 6 small flowers with the tattered florals die and used 3 flowers per rose. Before I assembled I inked edges with abandoned coral.

                                    

For the leaves I used various distress stains and sprays; peeled paint, cracked pistachio, evergreen bough, squeezed lemonade, pine needles. Again I spritzed with water and dragged card through it. 

Then I cut various foliage using Tim Holtz dies. I stamped them with leaf veins using fern green archival ink. i inked edges with gathered twigs distress inks.

Now it was time to embellish the basket. I added jute ribbon round the edge of the basket and along the handle. Then I added the leaves along the handle. I added a double bow of jute and then added the flowers.

Finally I covered the inside with thick ivory paper.

Now all that was left to do was to fill the basket with chocolate eggs and chicks.....

my take on Bokeh and Easter ....

Hello there. Recently there has been a lot of artwork featuring the Bokeh technique. So I decided to try my hand at it. This is my take on it. These were inspired by a tutorial on Barbara Gray's blog.

For a change I remembered to take a pic of everything I used in the making, so it is easier to see what colours I used.

I started with 4 pieces of white card which I inked with the 4 colours of distress. I then used the large and small feather and stamped randomly using same inks. I then dried them well with a heat gun.

Next I stamped the branch and the small blue tits in black archival and coloured them with spectrum noir pencils.

Now I used a stencil called Jo's bubbles and inked snowcap ink through it. I know that usually people tend to do this before stamping main image, but I actually liked the effect this created.

Lastly I stamped the greeting and matted and layered on complimentary card.

All stamps and stencil are from Claritystamp.

Tim Holtz tags 2015 - March

Hi there. This is a first for me. I have never played along with the tags posts.

For some reason I really wanted to play along this time and this is my effort. You can find the original post By Tim Holtz here.

I used cracked pistachio, squeezed lemonade, abandoned coral, broken china and seedless preserves distress paints.

I don't have the butterfly used by the Master himself so I used one by Justrite. I also used a different stencil.

Once I had done this I wasn't too happy with the shading on butterfly so I did use a paintbrush and coloured it in.

I added some embellishments and some ribbon.

The ribbon looked a bit bare so I added a rose that I had made with the small flower from the tattered flower die.

a tag for mother's day .....

Hello my friends. Today i'm back with a card that i was commissioned to make.

It started with a tag that I cut out of thick card and inked with distress paints, peacock feathers, tarnished bronze and frayed burlap. Once dry I inked with versamark and clear embossed. i repeated this 3 times adding some turquoise frantage and some frantage glitter on third layer. I added 2 more layers of clear embossing to encapsulate all the fragments. 

Whilst it was still warm I stamped the Stampendous image into it, I had previously inked it with black archival.

O a separate piece of card I stamped butterfly, twice, from same set and clear embossed them. I then coloured it using same paints as tag. I cut them out and decoupaged the wing for some added dimension.

For he background on basecard, I inked stamp with corresponding distress inks and stamped it randomly.

Sentiment is embossed and it is from Claritystamp.

Finally I added several ribbons to tag and mounted it onto base card.

Madeline

Hello again. Today I have an 8x8 canvas for you. I seem to be in a phase of wanting to decorate and paint things other than a card

I started by colouring the background with a variety of lilac/purple hues mainly from paperartsy fresco paints. I wanted to add some text so out with the wordchains and hydrangea archival ink. I stamped on tissue paper and mod podged it to canvas. Interestingly the words appeared purple even though I stamped in blue.

Then I used the smaller swirly leaves stencil and sponged metallic lilac acrylic paint through it. I think this one was by Cosmic Shimmer.

Once dry, out came 2 more stencils, Madeline and honeycomb. I used grunge paste which I let dry before adding any colour.

I decided that I was only going to add colour to the flowers in her hair, lips and eyelid.

Above you can see the flower in detail. I added 2 shades of treasure gold gilding wax to flower and distress glitter on the 3 areas on stalk.

I added a hint of colour to the rest of the face with spectrum noir pencils which i smudged with my finger.

I coloured the honey comb areas and added more treasure gold to them and along all 4 edges of canvas.

coasters

Hello again. Today I spent a very pleasurable day at a crafty workshop run by the talented Pauline Butcher.

We got very inky and had lots of fun but Pauline did get worried as we were very quiet as we were all concentrating on our work.

I chose to work with the octagonal coasters. My main stamps were all from the Designs by Ryn range.

Background was created with stencils and distress inks. I added some metallic distress paint to the images and a hint of platinum stickles for a bit of sparkle.

I went around all edges with the same metallic paint.

rose blush and cracked pistachio

Hello again. It seems like ages since my last post. However my laptop decided not to let me load my profile and though I tried to use my husband's iPad I didn't manage to post anything. Me and technology are not best mates.....

So here I started with a square piece of white card which i spritzed with water. I stamped the rose blush stamp, by IndigoBlu, which i had inked with cracked pistachio onto damp card and held it there for a few seconds so the ink reacts with the water.

Once I was happy with the way the ink had run, I dried it with a heat gun. Next I over stamped it with black archival ink and dried it again. Then I went outer edges with stamp and cracked pistachio, creating a border all around.

Then I decided to jazz the picture up a bit so i went round central image with a quickie glue pen and once cured, I added gilding flakes. for the central image i used variegated green and chocolate flakes.

I also went round the outer edges with the glue and added flakes there as well.

I also stamped a border along right hand side of base card with cracked pistachio and inked around outer edges.

I then stamped sentiment in black archival ink and clear embossed with detail powder.

Now it was time to stain the ribbon and for this I used white seam binding which I stained with the same distress stain so everything matches. I added ribbon along 2 corners of the topper and on the base card on left hand side.  I edged the ribbon on base card with some lace.
