Harriet

 Hello again my friends. Today I'm sharing a feminine card with you that utilizes a colour that doesn't feature very often in my crafting. Can you guess which one that may be?.....

Those that know me can clearly see that it is the pink......

I knew which image I wanted to use and I decided I wanted to use a tag as well. So I started with a size 8 manila tag and spritzed it with worn lipstick and hickory smoke distress spray. Once dry I distressed the edges with pumice stone, hickory smoke and black soot.

I then stamped the large Harriet in black archival ink. I die cut the TH beehive in the corner and mounted a piece of patterned paper behind it.

I stamped Harriet again onto white card and then onto 3 different patterned papers. Her face and arms are coloured in with a damp brush and tattered rose distress ink. I versamarked her shoe and clear embossed it. I cut her out and different bits of her dress and hat from the papers and paper pieced her. I love doing this with the ladies as it adds so much dimension and I can give them different patterned dresses every time.

I stuck her onto tag.

The rest of the card is padding to frame it. I used the same 3 patterned papers for everything and then the base uses the same paper as I added to base of tag, trying to make everything tie in.

The die is a spellbinders one from a heartfelt creations set.

The sentiment is stamped in black archival ink and clear embossed and die cut using a TH die from the tag set. I inked it slightly before removing it from die.

Various ribbons and twines, pearls and card candy finish the card off.

Hello again. time is really flying and it is time for another Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge.

Good day everyone,

Pat K here to welcome you to a new challenge at Fussy and Fancy Friday

It’s my turn to host and I’ve chosen the theme “Pastel Colours” .

I would describe my style as very eclectic.  I usually throw everything I have onto a card but there are times when the image yells out to me to be left alone resulting in a CAS design.   I love pastels but don’t shy away from stark contrasts in colour either.  I challenge myself by trying new techniques, not always mastering any of them but it’s fun to experiment.  I hope you enjoy the challenge and get a chance to play along with us. xx

This is the first image I fell in love with from the site. It is called best ever nap and you can find it here.

i printed him out just as an outline and coloured him in with promarkers. I know I used lime zest and apple green for the boy and various greys and a lilac for the elephant.

I added polar white flower soft to the pom pom on his hat.

I cut the image out using a spellbinders label die. I drew around it on gray paper and cut out a faux nestie.

The polka dot background and the lime panel and gray paper are all from Hot off the Press.

The pearlescent lime green card is coredinations. I die cut a Tim Holtz doily from it and the 1 that is a tonic die.

The white lacy border is another Tim Holtz die.

I assembled it as shown and finished it off  with some pearls.

bits on the table

Hello. I'm back again with a quick card. This was created literally by bits that were on the table all left over from previous cards.

I got the idea of this card when I thought of a couple of challenges. The base is craft card that was a leftover piece from an A3 card out of which I had cut a 17x17cm card base.

The burlap had been on my table for weeks and finally I found the perfect project for it. All the stars are from a Die'sire die. The central star would have been covered by the central image on other card and so I removed it. It has been gilded with vaious waxes including silver, gold and renaissance gold and sapphire blue.

The sentiment is from the Claritystamp word chains.....I do love them as they are so useful. I had you, a and star so the re is from remember and needed some masking. I stamped in black archival and clear embossed.

Notice the mistake. I forgot the apostrophe. i am pleased to say that I have rectified it but forgot to retake the pic!

The white specks are white frantage from stampendous.

retirement....

Hello my fellow crafters. I'm back with a CAS card today. This Friday one of the secretaries is retiring and so I needed a quick card as I have lots of other cards that need doing.

I have received the stencil only a few days ago and was itching to use it. I felt it would be apt for retirement and i could give it a sunset feel representing the end of an era.

So i taped it to the base card (linen effect) and using brushes I started with candied apple, carved pumpkin and squeezed lemonade. I then pulled the remaining ink off stencil with a makeup sponge.

The sentiment is stamped in black archival ink. It is from the word chains by Claritystamp. However retirement is made up from 4 stamps as I didn't have one that retirement. Can you guess which 4? Go on have a guess......

blue and green should never be seen .....

Hello there. I know I am not posting as often as I used to but I am terribly busy at work and so have  a lot less time available.

Recently I attended a couple of workshops by Ken Oliver and learnt some lovely techniques about powder watercolours.

So I tried to recreate  some at home.

I started by laying down stencil on watercolour card and added tiny sprinkles of powder. I used ultramarine (my absolute favourite), sea green and lemon. I know the saying blue and green should never be seen but I love this combination as I can see the colours of the sea.

Then I spritzed water and watched the magic happen. yes I am sad like that, I get excited watching these things!

I lifted the stencil carefully and flipped it over another piece of card....but that is for another project.

I left it to dry naturally. Then I matted on navy blue card and onto a 7x7 white base card.

I stamped the sentiment in deep purple archival ink and fashioned it into a banner.

And voila' my card is ready and is winding it's way to a friend to say thank you.

I think this is such a cool technique to make a background, don't you?
