triple emboss

For today's offering I started with a piece off one of the graze boxes and cut a tag out of it. I gessoed it and coloured it with neutral acrylics. Then i triple embossed it and added frantage colours on final layer. I stamped onto the tag while embossing powder was still warm having inked stamp with archival black.

Once it had cooled i added ribbon and fibres to match.

Then I set about preparing base card. I used poppy stalk which looks like a flourish and stamped it randomly, along with another postcard stamp.

Finally I stamped the sentiment.

I have recently bought some luminarte pourable radiant rain inks and I had been looking for an excuse to play with them. I decide to use the stamps from Designs By Ryn and knew I wanted to use the leaves.

1.So I chose 5 colours of inks. I pipetted afew drops of blue, pewter and red pearl on my craft sheet, spritzed with water and swooshed the card through it till I was happy with colour.

2. Using an artist texture sponge, I sponged a bit of pink grapefruit and sunshine yellow on top. (I wish you could see the shimmer that I can see!).

3. I then stamped in black archival ink. I used 5 stamps: 3 leaves, a droplet and the coral which in this case can be interpreted as twigs.

4. I bleached some colour from droplets with water and added a little white to highlight them and then covered them in glossy accents to increase water resemblance.

5. I matted and layered on complimentary colours and stuck to base card. Finished dimensions are 6x6.

it's all about the words

As soon as the new Clarity stamp challenge was announced I decided that I would decorate a candle. I'd recently bought the dandelion stamp and wanted to use it. So I set about looking for an inspiring verse.

My eyes fell on this verse and i decided to go with it. I think it is awesome. So I got the tissue paper and stamped verse in black archival. Then i inked the dandelion stamp with fern green and dandelion archival ink. I stamped one image from the bac an one from the front thus obtaining a mirror image. (It wasn't that simple though! I only had to do it 6 times before I was happy with the result :) .)

Then I cut out the image and wrapped it around the candle and held it in place with wax paper. I then heated the image with the heat gun and as the tissue 'melted' into the candle it was changing colour. 

And this is the finished result. I know it is not an intricate project but I wanted the verse to be the main 'attraction'.

Today my offering is quite a straightforward card. I started with a 12x12 cm piece of centura pearl card. Using the seaweed stencil and distress inks I brushed dusty concord, seedless preserve, picked raspberry, tumbled glass and faded jeans onto the matte side of card.

I then stamped the Lavinia rose 3 times with versamark and embossed in black. I masked alternate leaves off to minimize overlapping. Using an embossing folder i embossed just lower end of card and added some black soot to embossed areas to highlight them.

I matted it on black and stuck it to 15x15 cm base card. Finally i added a purple bow to the roses and added some plum pearl pva dots to card.

As soon as I saw the new challenge over at fussy and fancy I thought of this card. Then I realized that Annie's dt piece was a pop-up box too. However mine was done weeks ago. My friend who lives in Africa asked me to make her a couple of birthday cards for her children and this was one of them.

For the sides I cut inked the biggest slim jim horizontally with distress inks:

faded jeans

tumbled glass

mustard seed

shabby shutters

peeled paint

spritzed with water and stamped on white  card. I made 4 pieces like this and then cut them up to size. I tried to create landscapes so did not squidge inks in straight lines.

After drying them with a heat tool, I used Clarity stamp grasses and stamped in black archival ink. On the main back panel I stamped sentiment and 10 in black archival and clear embossed it. These are also from Claritystamp.

Then i die cut several flowers using spellbinders dies and assembled them as shown. I used matching distress glitters for the centres of flowers.

Indigoblu - sentiments

This months Indigo blu blog challenge is all about words. So I got out my stamps to see wish sentiments i had. This is one of my favourites ones from IB.

So i thought of making a feature of the background. I started by putting distress inks on the largest  slim jim. I used forest moss, shabby shutters, mustard seed, dried marigold, picked raspberry,seedless preserve and faded jeans. I spritzed with water and pressed it down on a piece of white card.

Then i started to add more interest to background using art set of stamps and the same distress inks. Using black archival ink after drying background i stamped the grasses and the butterfly. I heat set these. Then i stamped and clear embossed the sentiment. To make it stand out I die cut it with spellbinders and matted it on black. I also tried to bleach some of the background colour off it.

I thought i'd highlight the butterfly a little bit by adding some clear wink of stella but no matter how many pics i took i don't think you can see it. I also added a trail in white enamel from Rangers.

I matted it on complimentary card and finished it with some black enamel.

Well today there are two cards on offer. however the main image is very similar so i have blogged them together.

In the first one I started with a 15x15 cm piece of white card. I brushed antique linen and old paper over it using the clarity .Then using the outie of a clarity stencil and chosing the tag, I started to build colour inside the tag. I added more distressink mainly antique linen with brushes and then added some more around edges with a make up sponge. I also added some scattered straw and stamped the argyll pattern in it as well. I then stamped the the images inside using potting soil archival ink. They are travel minis by Tim Holtz.

Then I used the innie, ie the tag to mask the image and start building shadow all around the tag. I used  make up sponge and several tones of brown distress inks till i was happy with shading. The burlap is from the journalling set by clarity.

I then built background using other stamps from journaling set and some other Tim Holtz minis in different shades of brown distress ink. I then darkened around edges with walnut stain. Lastly I punched 2 holes in tag and threaded some paper twine through. Matted on some atching card and stuck to 7x7 base card.

Now for the second card. It is constructed in a very similar way but I created a longer topper. I used Tim Holtz stamps for all stamping bar the sentiment which is from the word chains by Clarity stamps.

The 'pearls' on the side are cosmic shimmer pva glue. chocolate brown, olympic gold and vanilla.
