Magical ....

Hello again. And here is the promised kraft card. I can confirm it is an obsession now and it has taken over. I just keep reaching out for it. I must admit that I love the way it changes the look of everything you put on it including inks.

Anyway enough of my waffling. It is time for another Fussy and Fancy challenge and it is my team's turn to offer inspiration this week.
This week the theme is Fantasy and it is being hosted by Pat K. The sponsors are Live and Love Crafts.

Those who know me would know I struggle with anything along this theme as it really takes me out of my comfort zone. So I had a rummage through my hundreds of stamps and then remembered this set from Claritystamp. I hear you ask "why did you buy it when it's not your thing?" Actually I loved the mushroom with the snail and he came with it. I also talked myself into cutting his wings off if I really couldn't.
I guess I'd better get onto the card....

I stamped the mushroom in black archival ink on kraft card and clear embossed it. I masked it and added a moon and then inked the background with the Clarity brushes and distress inks. I used tumbled glass, mermaid lagoon and blue print sketch. I also added some abandoned coral in sky. For the hilly background I used twisted citron and cracked pistachio.
I lifted masks off and added a bit of hickory smoke to moon and wispy clouds.

I then coloured in the mushroom and snail with spectrum noir pencils using several shades of a colour to build dimension. I added some shading on outside with greys -only 3 shades though!- as this also increases depth.
Then I stamped Puk on a small piece of kraft card and clear embossed him. Then I also coloured him in with promarkers. I fussy cut him and yes chopped his wings off as I had other plans for him.
I then got some angelina film and fibre and stamped him on it using a hot iron and black archival ink. The same I did for the snail's shell.
I then attached the fibre wings to his back and the shell onto  the snail. I sat Puk on the mushroom and stck him down with glue gel.

I then thought I could combine it with the Claritystamp challenge so I needed to create some kind of stepper card. I then embossed some more kraft card with a leaf folder which I thought really goes. I inked it with mustard seed, tea dye, rusty hinge, twisted citron, cracked pistachio an gathered twigs and chopped it to fit the sides.
For the front I stamped The word magical and clear embossed it and then dry embossed the card on either side it. I inked it in the same way.
I then die cut some flourishes and some foliage from the Tim Holtz dies. The leaves are from Sweet lilac flowers. The flowers come from a necklace I bought from Asda which I dismantled.
I also added some pearls for good measure.

So this card involves some of my favourite techniques, masking, inking backgrounds, embossing...... and I do hope you like it, Theresa xx.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Simon says stamp Monday challenge - love this technique
Word art Wednesday - anything goes

  1. This is a beautiful magical card Theresa and love the way it looks on the kraft card and the extra flowers and foliage die cut and added to the side is so pretty as is the extra dry embossing and the fibres for the wings and snail shell. Lots of interesting touches and what great idea to use bits from an old necklace. x

  2. Wonderful card, Theresa and it really does fit the bill for this challenge. I understand exactly what you mean when you say it is hard to produce a card which is outside your comfort zone .... Fantasy would be hard for me too ... however I also have these stamps because they would work in other genre too. Have a lovely weekend hugs Annie xx
