say it with flowers

When i checked this months challenge on the Claritystamp challenge site the theme was "Say it with flowers" and it reminded me of this card that I made last year and never blogged for one reason or another.

My friend asked me to make her a card for her mother and the instructions were art deco and green. At first I really struggled and then I remembered this stencil. It was brand new as I had never used it before.

I started by adding distress ink through stencil onto white card. I used shabby shutters and peeled paint for the leaves and tattered rose and victorian velvet for roses on a separate piece of card. Once I had dried it thoroughly. I replaced the clean stencil and covered it with transparent paste. I added microbeads to the leaves section as soon as I removed stencil. I left both pieces to dry thouroughly for several hours.

Meanwhile I turned my attention to the lady. She is my second favourite after the Sketchy lady. I love dressing her up by paper piecing. So I stamped her out in black archival onto card and several times onto patterned paper from my stash. I then cut them out and stuck them onto stamped image.

I then made a base card big enough to fit the long stencil. I found a corner that I felt matched the design and embossed it in silver in all 4 corners.
On a spare piece of black card I stamped Mother and embossed it in silver along with 2 corners.
Once assembled it looked like the picture.

So that is my offering for this month. My friend loved it, how about you? Happy New Year, Theresa xx

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Claritystamp challenge blog - say it with flowers

    1. thanks Jo. i think the fact that it is long and slim can be quite a deterrent to using it especially for cardmakers, hugs xx

  19. What a special creation. We are so blessed you joined our Challenge weeks ago and would love for you to join our new Challenge still ongoing at Word Art Wednesday. Want to leave you with the inspiration of the Scripture in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 which says, "But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. " Have a lovely week.
