a gentleman .....

Hello my friends. I wanted to blog this card for a while but I never got down to it. It is one I made a couple of months back for a man's 60th birthday.

This card was created with Tim Holtz stamps. I did use several sets, anything that took my fancy really. The colours are very autumnal as at the time I was really into all those warm colours and I do think that that palette befits a male card.

I started with an A4 size piece of white card and started inking it with distress inks. I used squeezed lemonade, fossilized amber, carved pumpkin, wild honey. I then flicked water at it and dabbed it with kitchen roll.

Then it was time to start stamping. I used the leaves and same ink pads but added aged mahogany to the mix. I stamped in first and second generation ink. With ground espresso I stamped the glass stains and some other splats. I added some hickory smoke with another small stamp that I love. I finished off with the harlequin pattern that I stamped repeatedly with black archival ink.

I then cut a piece off it and distressed the edges with gathered twigs and walnut stain. I matted it onto black.

Then I turned my attention to the tag. i used a manila tag that I darkened with old paper and antique linen. I then stamped the gentleman in potting soil archival ink and water coloured him in with ground espresso distress ink.

Using same inks as on background I added more interest to tag's background. stamps are mainly from a set of tiny clear polymer stamps. I added a sentiment that I felt was appropriate for this occasion.

I then distressed the edges with gathered twigs and walnut stain. Again I matted onto black and wound some natural twine around it. I also added glossy accents to the watch and glasses.

I then picked some ephemera stickers and matted them on black too and assembled as shown.

I finished embellishing with some metal cogs. a watch and a penny farthing.  I really hope you like my effort this time. I must say i really enjoyed this inky process, Theresa xx.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
