happy holidays

Hello my friends. Today I am very excited to be hosting the Fussy and Fancy blog challenge. This is definitely a first for me.
The theme is Christmastime so quite apt for this time of year.

My offering for today is an advent calendar I made for my kids. It was a kit I got from tonic and it had the dies and papers included. The papers were the twelve days of Christmas and i must say they were beatiful and really good quality.

So first I assembled all the little drawers and left the glue to dry. In the meantime I assembled the main compartment and left it to dry. Then it was time to paint it. I mixed 4 different acrylic paints to get the hue I wanted. I used red and added a bit of blue red dyna paint and gold dyna paint. Finally I mixed in some french roast paperartsy chalk paint.

I painted the drawers inside and out and also all the sides of the the holder including the back.
I then glued the papers onto chipboard cutouts and cut them out. I glued them to the sides.
I then die- cut gold mirri board fronts for all the drawers and a mat out of the papers. I cut 2 out of every paper (2x12=24).
I then die-cut the numbers out of chipboard and mirri board and glued everything on.
Then it was time to use the gilding wax. I went round all the edges including the drawers with renaissance gold wax by pebeo.

Finally it was time to embellish. The poinsettias are from Sweetlilac flowers. The leaves and berries are from my stash.
So now it is up to you. This challenge will run for 4 weeks so you have ample time to join us.
For more inspiration you can go to the main blog and you will find all the other projects from my team mates.
